Worker strikes continue in Tabriz and Tehran

NCRI – A strike by more than 1,400 temporary contractors at a petrochemical plant in the northwestern city of Tabriz has entered its tenth day, according to Hrana news agency on Tuesday.

The report said temporary workers launched a strike on February 26 to protest a lack of response to their demand for permanent contracts.

During this time, some of the regime’s provincial officials and suppressive forces have tried to threaten or intimidate the employees to end their strike but were met with further resistance by the workers.

The workers chanted slogans both in Azeri and Farsi to press for their demands.

Separately, worker protests at the Kian Tire factory is also still continuing. On Monday, the workers went on strike in protest to late dues, which brought the factory’s operations to a halt.
