NCRI – The Iranian regime’s Supreme Council on Cultural Revolution has been considering the so-called plan for “fashion and clothing", according to the state-run news agency, ISNA.
In releasing the news, a member of the Majlis (Parliament) Culture Committee said, “Cultural problems are not like economic problems which could be resolved through coupons”. She reiterated, "The State Security Forces should first only issue warnings and if that was not enough it should take more serious measures”. The announcement signaled more crackdown on women by the Iranian regimes’ suppressive agencies.
By pointing to the role of the ministries of Industry and Commerce as well as the state radio and television in drafting and implementing this plan, she acknowledged the extensive scale of this suppressive measure.
NCRI’s Women’s Committee Chair, Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, reiterated that suppression and discrimination against women form the basis of the ideology, laws and conduct of this medieval regime. She added, "This plan sets the stage for greater suppression of women, especially in summer." Ms. Chitsaz described such repressive plans and measures as a desperate attempt by the regime to thwart the active presence of women in antigovernment protests.
