Call for the Release of PMOI Families

Mrs. Akram Daneshvarkar and Mrs. Azam Daneshvarkar, sisters of the martyred PMOI member Akbar Daneshvarkar, who was executed on March 30, 2026, were arrested on Monday, April 18, 2026. They were detained during their repeated follow-ups and daily visits to Qezel Hesar Prison, the forensics office, and the judiciary to receive their brother’s body.

To intimidate the families of other martyrs, the regime’s judiciary opened a fabricated case against Akram and Azam, charging them with “assembly and collusion against national security and disrupting public order,” and transferred them to Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

The only crime committed by these two sisters was spending 20 days following up and visiting various offices to receive the body of their martyred PMOI brother, Akbar, and to determine his burial site.

Akram Daneshvarkar, 54, was also active in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign alongside her parents, fighting against the death penalty and attempting to save her brother’s life.

Additionally, Mrs. Masoumeh Azhini, 63, the sister of martyred PMOI member Mahmoud Azhini, a victim of the 1988 massacre, was arrested on April 4, 2026. She had relocated from Tehran to the suburbs of Gorgan due to mounting pressure. There is currently no information regarding her whereabouts.

Masoumeh had previously been arrested in 2019 for seeking justice for her martyred brother, serving a one-year sentence in Fardis Prison in Karaj. Since her release, she had been continuously subjected to surveillance and harassment by the regime’s intelligence agents, facing repeated summons and threats.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Special Rapporteur to take immediate action to secure the release of the families and supporters of the PMOI.
