Iran: Brutal Execution of Two Kurdish Political Prisoners on Charges of Armed Uprising and Assassinating an IRGC Commander

  • Call for immediate action to stop the execution of political prisoners

The regime’s judiciary announced that on Thursday, May 21, the henchmen of the clerical regime executed Ramin Zalleh and Karim Maroufpour, two political prisoners and Kurdish compatriots, in Naghdeh Central Prison. Ramin was arrested two years ago and Karim five years ago, and both had been held in prison since.

The regime’s judiciary stated the charges against these two prisoners included “assassinating the commander of an IRGC base in one of the country’s western counties, emptying two magazines at a vehicle carrying military forces, and filming this operation.”

The news agency of the regime’s judiciary announced the other charges against these two prisoners as “forming a group with the aim of disrupting security, armed uprising through the formation of criminal groups, shooting, and attempting assassination.”

The ruling religious fascism futilely attempts to delay its overthrow by executing and hanging youths and rebellious youths from Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, and Qom to Kurdistan and Baluchistan.

The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns these anti-human crimes and once again calls on the United Nations and member states for immediate and effective action to stop the execution of political prisoners in Iran. It also emphasizes the necessity of referring the dossier of the Iranian regime’s crimes to the United Nations Security Council and bringing the regime’s leaders to justice for 47 years of crimes against humanity and genocide.
