On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, the Iranian regime arrested and transferred to Lakan Prison in the northern city of Rasht, Aqil Rahnama Behambari, who spent 12 years in prison in the 1980s and 1990s, Ahmad Behnami and Ebrahim Hozouri, among the political prisoners of the 1980s, as well as Zahra Haghgoo, Ozra Taheri, Narges Shirbacheh, and Simrokh Bozorg Zia’bari. In September, Mahin Akbari, Ebrahim Hazouri’s wife, also a political prisoner in the 1980s, was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison for refusing to beg Khamenei for “forgiveness.” She has been on a hunger strike since October 21.

The Iranian resistance once again urges the United Nations, the European Union, its member states, and all human rights organizations and bodies to take urgent action to secure the release of political prisoners.
