Absence of UN observers in Camp Liberty housing Iranian dissident in Iraq

Warning on growing security threats and another attack against Camp Liberty residents
After the heavy rocket attack by Iraqi forces on Camp Liberty on December 26 that left four dead and over 70 injured, the UN monitors who, as stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ought to keep a presence in the camp 24 hours a day and seven days a week, are refusing to have a presence in the camp. The UNAMI monitoring team and the team from UNHCR each were only allowed to come inside the camp for a mere half hour on December 27 and then hastily leave.

Absence of observers in Camp Liberty is in circumstances that in a statement on January 7, the Iranian Resistance disclosed Qasem Soleimani’s request of Nouri al-Maliki for a raid on Camp Liberty in “Daesh” clothing.

Meanwhile, Maliki has ordered a SWAT force, together with forces from the Dirty (Golden) Division whose officers and commanders are elements of “Badr”, “Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq” and “Iraqi Hezbollah battalions” who are all under the command of the terrorist Qods Force, to be deployed in Camp Liberty’s vicinity and if conditions in Iraq get critical to act against PMOI. This is while the official protective force for Camp Liberty is the police force and presence of SWAT forces foretells a specific plot for slaughtering the PMOI.

Additionally, according to specific information, the terrorist Qods Force,in coordination with the Iraqi government, is once again poised for another rocket attack on Camp Liberty with more rockets in number and in strength. In the December 26 attack, 280mm rockets were used that are 20 times more powerful in explosive power and destruction than the 107mm rockets that were employed in the three attacks that preceded it. Coordination for transfer of the new rockets and their launch pads to theirlaunch site is made by Maliki’s National Security Advisor organ that is responsible for the committee tasked to suppress Ashraf and liberty residents.

As to the directives of Qasem Soleimani, Commander of the terrorist Qods Force, in order to justify the attack on PMOI, they should to be related to terrorism, al-Qaeda and DAESH in Iraqi government’s propaganda!

The Iranian Resistance once again reminds United States and United Nations of their responsibility to protect Camp Liberty residents in the existing critical conditions and calls on the United Nations to station UN observers, together with a team of Blue Helmets, on a round the clock basis inside Camp Liberty.
