Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: Each execution further fans the flames of public anger and strengthens the resolve of the youth
Call to the UN Security Council to take effective action and stop executions in Iran
On Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026, the henchmen of the religious dictatorship ruling Iran, in another criminal act, hanged Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saedi, two rebellious youths from Shahroud, under the pretext of being ‘armed leaders’ of the January uprising.
The criminal mullah Mohammad Sadegh Akbari, head of the regime’s judiciary in Semnan Province, stated that these two young men were sentenced to death and the confiscation of all movable and immovable properties. They were charged with ‘Moharebeh (enmity against God) and corruption on Earth through drawing firearms and cold weapons, opposing the system, disrupting public order and security, assembly and collusion to commit crimes against security, damaging equipment and doors of several bank branches, instigating chaos and riots in front of the governorate, overturning a police car, and participating in setting it on fire.’
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), saluted the two rebellious youths executed this morning in the proud city of Shahroud, saying: ‘The anti-human mullahs’ regime futilely attempts to cover up its growing crises and prevent the explosion of popular anger through daily executions. The brave youth of Iran will not remain silent in the face of these savage crimes, and every execution will further fan the flames of public anger and strengthen the resolve of the youth in their struggle for freedom and justice.’
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi once again called on the UN Security Council and other relevant United Nations bodies to take effective measures to halt the execution of political prisoners and protesters in Iran.
