Iran: The Staggering Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 362,400
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Saturday, August 14, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 547 cities is more than 362,400. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 85,246, Isfahan 24,350, Khorasan Razavi 22,935, Khuzestan 22,751, Mazandaran 14,040, East Azerbaijan 13,688, Lorestan 13,260, West Azerbaijan 12,973, Fars 12,642, Gilan 11,935, Sistan and Baluchestan 10,695, Alborz 10,628, Kerman 9,138, Golestan 8,625, Kermanshah 6,598, Yazd 6,333, Hormozgan 6,255, North Khorasan 4,909, Ardabil 4,405, Zanjan 3,800, Ilam 3,668, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 2,749.

Khamenei’s Criminal COVID Policy Is Firing Back at the Entire Regime
Iran is facing a disastrous and tragic resurgence of coronavirus infection, with the number of covid cases and deaths growing at an unprecedented rate. The uncontrolled spread of virus has caused concern among regime officials and leaders who previously showed no empathy toward the health and lives of the Iranian people. And this concern is not caused by the skyrocketing coronavirus casualties but the ramifications that it can have for the regime in its entire.
Health Official: Daily Deaths From COVID-19 Will Reach 800 in Iran
The Deputy Minister of Research and Technology in Iran’s Health Ministry said in a letter on August 12 that the daily deaths from COVID-19 will reach 800 if the situation does not worsen. According to the state-run ISNA News Agency, Dr. Farid Najafi, the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology wrote a letter to Saeed Namaki, Iran’s Health Minister, calling for a ban on religious mourning gatherings in the upcoming days.
By Reversing Rare Conviction of a Murderous Official, Iran Welcomes New Crackdowns
On Tuesday, Iran’s Supreme Court acquitted the former Tehran prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi for his role in three deaths that caused vast international outcry following government crackdowns in the 2009 protests. His lawyer boasted that the decision left Mortazavi with a clean record, years after he became the only major official to face domestic legal consequences for human rights abuses perpetrated by the Iranian regime.
Iranian Kurdish Prisoner Heidar Ghorbani at Risk of Execution
The lawyer of Iranian Kurdish prisoner Heidar Ghorbani said that the supreme court has denied his request for a retrial. Heidar Ghorbani’s lawyer Saleh Nikbakht said that the Branch 27 of the supreme court has rejected his request for a retrial which he made in December 2020. “The case was sent from Revolutionary Court to the Implementation of Verdicts Unit in Kamyaran after the request was rejected, but so far no order has been issued by the branch to implement the verdict,” Nikbakht said.
