U.S. Will Collapse Iran’s Economy by Shutting Down Its Oil Industry, Treasury Secretary Says
President Donald Trump’s sanctions against Iran are designed to shut down the country’s oil industry and “collapse its already buckling economy,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday.
The U.S. is deploying sanctions against Iran aggressively for “immediate maximum impact,” Bessent told the Economic Club of New York. Trump’s goal is to slash Iran’s oil exports of 1.5 million barrels per day to a trickle, the Treasury secretary said.
“We are going to shut down Iran’s oil sector and drone manufacturing capabilities,” Bessent said. The administration also intends to cut off Tehran’s access to the international financial system, he said.
Exclusive: US Mulls Plan to Disrupt Iran’s Oil by Halting Vessels at Sea
WASHINGTON, March 6 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s administration is considering a plan to stop and inspect Iranian oil tankers at sea under an international accord aimed at countering the spread of weapons of mass destruction, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Trump has vowed to restore a “maximum pressure” campaign to isolate Iran from the global economy and drive its oil exports to zero, in order to stop the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Trump hit Iran with two waves of fresh sanctions in the first weeks of his second-term, targeting companies and the so-called shadow fleet of ageing oil tankers that sail without Western insurance and transport crude from sanctioned countries.

Iranian Government Hostage Taking
Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million for information leading to the location, recovery, and return of Robert A. “Bob” Levinson, as well as information leading to the identification, location, arrest, or conviction of any person responsible for his disappearance. A retired FBI special agent, Levinson went missing during a business trip to Kish Island, Iran, on March 9, 2007. Senior Iranian officials authorized Levinson’s abduction and detention and then launched a disinformation campaign to deflect blame from the Iranian regime. Mohammad Baseri and Ahmad Khazai, two senior officials of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) acting in their official capacity as MOIS officers, were allegedly involved in the abduction, detention, and probable death of Mr. Levinson.

PMOI Resistance Units Commemorate Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh Across Iran
On the 58th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh, the democratically elected prime minister of Iran and a symbol of national sovereignty, members of the Resistance Units staged commemorative activities across multiple cities in Iran. Dr. Mossadegh, who led the nationalization of Iran’s oil industry, was overthrown in a 1953 coup orchestrated by the Shah’s regime with foreign support. Decades later, his legacy remains deeply ingrained in the collective memory of the Iranian people.

In Tehran, Resistance Units displayed messages honoring Mossadegh’s contributions to Iran’s independence and struggle against colonial rule. Banners and graffiti carried slogans such as “Mossadegh, bless your soul, your path continues” and “Our blood-soaked generation holds the torch of Kuchak Khan and Mossadegh.” These messages underscored the unwavering determination of Iranians to uphold his ideals of national sovereignty and freedom.
Zarif’s Resignation: A Sign of The Iranian Regime’s Deepening Crisis
Mohammad-Javad Zarif, the regime’s long-time apologist for its crimes and corruption, has once again resigned—this time in the midst of intensifying factional infighting within the Iranian establishment. His departure, coming just after the dismissal of Economy Minister Hemmati, not only exposes the internal fractures within the so-called “national unity government” but also signals an accelerated collapse of the regime’s fragile power structure.
Despite official claims that Zarif’s resignation was linked to the foreign citizenship status of his associates, the reality runs much deeper. At its core, this is yet another battle in the ongoing war between the regime’s mafia-like factions over the spoils of the nation’s wealth. After all, both sides of the ruling elite are known to have their own networks of privileged, dual-national offspring benefiting from Iran’s plundered resources. In October 2022, IRNA reported that approximately 5,400 offspring of Iranian state officials reside abroad. The ousting of Zarif is therefore not about “upholding national interests” but rather about eliminating rivals in a desperate attempt to consolidate power.
Massive Iran-Linked Botnet Exploiting Security Cameras for DDoS Attacks
A newly identified botnet comprising over 30,000 compromised security cameras and network video recorders is being actively used to launch distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against telecom providers and gaming platforms. Security researchers from Nokia Deepfield and GreyNoise have been tracking this botnet, known as Eleven11bot, which is responsible for widespread brute-force attacks targeting login systems and exploiting weak or default passwords on Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
According to GreyNoise, over 60% of the 1,042 identified IP addresses associated with Eleven11bot have been traced to Iran. While the research firm refrains from making formal attributions, it highlighted that the attacks emerged shortly after the Trump administration imposed new sanctions on Iran, reinforcing its “maximum pressure” campaign.
UK Warns of Growing Iranian Regime Threat as MI5 Foils 20 Lethal Plots
The British government has raised alarm over the increasing threat posed by Iran, revealing that MI5 has disrupted 20 plots by the Iranian regime since early 2022. These incidents, described as “potentially lethal threats to British citizens and UK residents,” underscore Tehran’s escalating aggression beyond its borders.
The disclosure, made by Security Minister Dan Jarvis in a statement to Parliament on Tuesday, comes amid a significant rise in MI5’s investigations into state threats—an increase of 48% in the past year alone. British intelligence is currently probing multiple cases of suspected sabotage linked to Russian intelligence, Chinese espionage, and the Iranian regime’s efforts to intimidate and assassinate dissidents abroad.
CSW69, Beijing+30 – NCRI Women’s Committee Report
On the eve of International Women’s Day, the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) publishes its report to CSW69 (2025), marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
Like every other government, the Iranian regime has submitted a report to CSW69, although it is filled with hollow rhetoric and manipulated statistics.
The mullahs’ regime in Iran is not only uninterested in advancing toward global ideals but also a relic of feudalism, rooted in medieval ideologies that are utterly incompatible with modern civilization and the 2030 sustainable development goals.
Serious Water Pressure Drops and Outages in Tehran
Reports from Tehran indicate that residents in various parts of the capital have been experiencing water pressure drops and outages for several days. In some areas, the pressure is so low that only the ground floors of buildings can access running water during certain hours. In recent days, in addition to citizens, several journalists have also reported on Persian-language social media about the severe water pressure drop in different parts of Tehran, with some areas facing complete water shortages.
Several journalists have also criticized the lack of media coverage on this crisis and questioned whether a directive has been issued to media managers preventing them from covering the situation.
Disappearance of Imported Gold; The Iranian Regime’s Hidden Game with National Wealth
According to customs data, the Iranian government imported more than 81 tons of gold from March to December 2024, but only one-third of it was sold in the market, leaving 61 tons unaccounted for.
The Iranian government has reported $6.3 billion worth of gold imports during this period, marking a 294% increase compared to the previous year. Since November 2022, the Iranian government has lifted restrictions on gold bar imports and has provided facilities and incentives to facilitate gold imports.
