Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth threatened Iran over its support for Yemen’s Houthi militants, telling the country that it “will pay the consequence.”

“Message to IRAN: We see your LETHAL support to the Houthis. We know exactly what you are doing. You know very well what the U.S. Military is capable of — and you were warned. You will pay the CONSEQUENCE at the time and place of our choosing,” the Defense secretary said in a post on the social platform X late Wednesday.

Hegseth’s Wednesday comments are similar to words from President Trump last month in which he demanded that Tehran stop giving weapons to the Houthis in Yemen.

U.S. Condemns Iranian Regime’s Regional Destabilization, Warns on Nuclear Escalation at UN Security Council

The United States issued a stark warning over the Iranian regime’s role in regional instability during a UN Security Council debate on the Middle East, accusing Tehran of fueling violence through its proxy networks and advancing a nuclear program with no peaceful justification.

Speaking at the Council, Ambassador Dorothy Shea said Iran’s backing of proxy armed groups poses a “threat to millions” across the region, calling the clerical regime’s actions “insidious” and destabilizing.

Shea also linked Tehran’s nuclear ambitions to its broader “global campaign for destabilization,” warning that Iran’s ongoing nuclear escalation endangers both regional and international security.

“There are two paths for Iran to end its nuclear program. The United States prefers a negotiated resolution,” Shea said, while cautioning that time is limited and accountability measures may follow if Tehran refuses to abandon its nuclear weapons drive.

Message from Maryam Rajavi on International Workers’ Day

Mine workers in Bajestan attempt to reach their trapped peers following a deadly rockfall inside the shaft

Maryam Rajavi’s message: “On this International Workers’ Day, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you. This day is a blessed celebration for all who strive for a world free from tyranny and exploitation—a day that marks the end of suffering, poverty, homelessness, and injustice. Salutations to the workers who have joined the Resistance Units over the past year. Salutations to the courageous workers who rose up and ensured that the voice of protest— the cry of “no” to oppression and exploitation, and the call for justice and a better world—did not fall silent in the streets.

“On this day, we also stand in solidarity with the grieving families and those affected by the devastating explosion in Bandar Abbas, caused by the regime’s inhumane policy of stockpiling military and chemical weapons. The majority of the victims were workers.
We remember the 52 miners who perished in the tragic explosion at the Tabas coal mine last September, as well as the more than 2,000 workers who tragically lost their lives in workplace accidents this past year.”

Dissidents Accuse Iran of ‘Covering Up’ True Death Toll from Port Explosion

breitbart logo

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a dissident group based in Europe, has accused the regime in Tehran of lying about the true death toll from the massive explosions at the port of Bandar Abbas on Saturday. According to NCRI, the regime is desperate to conceal both the cause of the explosion and the lethal incompetence of their response.

“The true death toll is several times higher than officially reported and certainly exceeds 100,” NCRI president Maryam Rajavi said on Sunday.

“The IRGC, intelligence forces, and other organs of repression have mobilized – not to contain the fires or rescue the wounded – but to control the situation and cover up the shipment of solid fuel for ballistic missiles and the full scale of the disaster,” Rajavi charged.

One of the hottest issues in Iran’s political and religious circles these days is the subject of negotiations with the United States. This topic has become a pretext for deceit and populism by regime clerics who share exploitative interests with the political establishment. Consider these contradictory examples tying negotiations to the Quran:
Borna News Agency,  March 3, 2025: Ahmad Alamolhoda, Friday prayer leader of Mashhad: “The Leader found negotiations with America unjustified, based on Quranic reasoning and references.”

Ahmad Khatami, Friday Prayer Sermon on April 18: “Negotiations are commanded by the Quran.”

Friday Prayer Leader of Tabriz: “Avoiding negotiations with America is a Quranic command!”

Fearing Snapback Sanctions Over Nuclear Program, Iran’s Regime Pleads with Europe for Talks

While Iran’s regime, fearing the activation of the snapback mechanism and the return of international sanctions, has pleaded with Europe, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated on April 28, 2025 at a UN Security Council meeting, “It goes without saying that when the Iranian nuclear deal expires in a few weeks, if European security interests are not guaranteed, we will not hesitate for a single second to reapply all the sanctions that were lifted 10 years ago.”

He added, “These sanctions would then permanently close off Iranian access to technology, investment, and the European market, with devastating effects on the country’s economy. This is not what we want, and that is why I solemnly call on Iran to take the necessary decisions today to avoid the worst.”

The Dire Plight of Workers in Iran

International Workers’ Day is a global symbol of the struggle for justice, fair wages, safe working conditions, social protections, and the right to organize. It is a moment to recognize the dignity of labor and the need for equity in the face of exploitation. In Iran, however, under the current theocracy, workers are systematically deprived of even their most basic rights. The regime’s exploitative economic policies have driven millions into poverty, insecurity, and repression.

A key indicator of workers’ plight in Iran is their income level. On March 16, 2025, Ahmad Meydari, Deputy Minister of Labor, announced the minimum wage for the new year as approximately 10.4 million tomans (~$130 USD), while the actual cost of living is estimated at over 35 million tomans. In contrast, a human resources director in a petrochemical firm reportedly earns 247 million tomans monthly — nearly 24 times more.
