UK Urged to Proscribe IRGC Over Growing Threats

A new report by the Henry Jackson Society warns that the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) poses a growing threat to UK national security and calls for the British government to proscribe the IRGC as a terrorist organisation formally.

The report, The Long Arm of Tehran: Why the UK Should Ban the IRGC, outlines how the IRGC has been linked to assassination plots, surveillance operations, and efforts to intimidate dissidents on British soil. According to MI5, at least 20 Iran-backed plots have been uncovered in the UK since January 2022, including an attempt to assassinate two British-Iranian journalists last year

In its policy recommendations, the report argues that proscribing the IRGC under the UK Terrorism Act 2000 would allow authorities to criminalize membership, funding, and expressions of support for the organization. The authors suggest that such a move would enable greater policing of IRGC-linked individuals in the UK and allow for the deportation or arrest of any individual even remotely linked to the IRGC.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Warns Iran Over Nuclear Program, Addresses Global Security in Fox News Interview

In a wide-ranging interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio — who now also serves as National Security Advisor and Acting USAID Administrator — outlined the Trump administration’s foreign policy priorities, sounding a clear warning to Iran over its nuclear ambitions and highlighting escalating global threats. Rubio reiterated the U.S. administration’s position that the Iranian regime must abandon uranium enrichment and open its facilities to unrestricted inspections if it seeks any kind of diplomatic resolution. “If in fact Iran is not interested in nuclear weapons… then they should not be afraid of inspections by inspectors of any kind, including Americans,” he said. He emphasized that a peaceful nuclear program can be achieved by importing enriched uranium, a standard practice in many countries.

The Secretary called on Tehran to “walk away from sponsoring terrorists, from helping the Houthis, from building long-range missiles, and from enrichment.” He added, “These are not unreasonable requests. That path is there for them — it’s the path of peace.”

Iran Had Imperial Ambitions in Syria. Secret Embassy Papers Show Why It Failed

DAMASCUS – Iran had a grand plan for Syria – taken right from the playbook of a country it considers its arch-enemy.

Just as the United States solidified its global dominance by investing billions in rebuilding Europe after the Second World War, Iran would do the same in the Middle East by reconstructing a war-ravaged Syria.

The ambitious program, outlined in a 33-page official Iranian study, makes several references to “The Marshall Plan,” America’s blueprint for resurrecting post-War Europe. The U.S. strategy succeeded: It made Europe “reliant on America,” a presentation accompanying the study says, by “creating economic, political and socio-cultural dependence.”

May 1, 2025 – U.S. and British forces conducted a wave of airstrikes targeting Houthi positions across Yemen late Tuesday night, including multiple sites in Hodeidah and the capital, Sana’a, according to reports by Al Arabiya.

Sources confirmed U.S. airstrikes hit Houthi military positions in four Yemeni provinces, focusing on Al-Houk district in Hodeidah. Houthi-affiliated media reported a series of strikes in Sana’a, including four air raids on military installations in Al-Nahda neighborhood and the former First Armored Division camp northwest of the city, and three strikes on the military headquarters at Al-Sawad camp south of the capital.

The British Ministry of Defense announced Wednesday that U.K. and U.S. forces had jointly carried out the operation, emphasizing it took place after dark to minimize civilian risk. The ministry confirmed all aircraft returned safely.

This operation marks the latest escalation in a U.S.-led military campaign launched on March 15, 2025, aimed at halting Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, the Houthis have launched dozens of attacks targeting vessels they claim are linked to Israel.

Iranian Political Prisoners Support Workers’ Struggle, Call for Regime Change

Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, western Iran

In a powerful open letter marking International Workers’ Day, a group of political prisoners supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) from Ghezel Hesar Prison expressed solidarity with Iranian workers and condemned the regime’s oppression and economic plunder.

The letter honors the sacrifices of workers across Iran, from miners buried alive to those killed in explosions caused by the regime’s negligence. “Let us pause on this May Day to remember the oppressed, murdered, and buried workers in the mines, the workers burned in the flames of IRGC warehouse explosions in Bandar Abbas, and the families trapped in poverty, disease, and slow death,” the prisoners wrote.

They described the regime’s systematic impoverishment of workers and wage earners under both the Shah and the clerical dictatorship, emphasizing that “except for a handful of thieves, profiteers, and embezzlers, the majority of society lives below the poverty line.”

The Epicenter of an Explosion at an Iranian Port Is Tied to A Charity Overseen by Its Supreme Leader

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The explosion that rocked an Iranian port, killing at least 70 people and injuring more than 1,000 others, had its epicenter at a facility ultimately owned by a charitable foundation overseen by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s office.

That foundation, known as Bonyad Mostazafan, faces American sanctions over it helping the 86-year-old Khamenei “to enrich his office, reward his political allies and persecute the regime’s enemies,” the U.S. Treasury has said. Its top personnel also have direct ties to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which oversees Tehran’s ballistic missile arsenal and operations abroad targeting the Islamic Republic’s enemies.

Deadly Mines and Unsafe Ports: A Pattern of Worker Fatalities Haunts Iran

Iranian workers carry injured colleagues after a fatal mine accident

On the eve of International Workers’ Day, following a tragic incident in Bandar Abbas, Iran’s honorable protesting retirees expressed support and solidarity with the hardworking laborers, who are the primary victims of the clerical regime’s oppression and catastrophes. They chanted: “From the mine to the port, it’s a place for killing workers.”

The clarity of this oppression is such that after the Bandar Abbas port explosion, which left dozens dead and hundreds injured, the state-run Bahar newspaper wrote on April 27, “In all these incidents, which often become national crises and times of mourning, workers are unfortunately on the front line of victims. Whether during explosions, accidents, leaks, or during danger aversion and firefighting, it is always the workers who suffer the most harm.”

In the first 20 days of the Persian year 1404 (starting on March 20), three deadly accidents in mines located in Mahabad, Damghan, and Bajestan claimed the lives of several workers. In September 2024, over 50 workers were buried alive in the Madanjoo coal mine in Tabas. The Madanjoo mine is part of the Gol Gohar Mining and Industrial Holding Company, one of the largest mining and industrial firms in Iran and a subsidiary of Bank Sepah.

Bandar Abbas, Iran – April 27, 2025 - Thick plumes of smoke rise from the wreckage of Shahid Rajaee Port after a massive explosion involving hazardous cargo containers

Deadly Bandar Abbas Explosion – Six days after the catastrophic explosion at Bandar Abbas, flames continue to rise from the ruins of Sina Company—a facility linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Eyewitnesses report that in one neighboring company alone, 50 female employees are missing. Hospitals are overwhelmed with hundreds of severely injured patients. One witness recounts that 23 of 30 women at her workplace were killed—some disfigured beyond recognition, others suffering severe injuries or dismemberment.

Iran Intensifies Surveillance and Repression of Women Opposing Mandatory Hijab

AI-generated surveillance camera monitoring the people in the street

In the wake of escalating domestic repression and a surge in executions, the Iranian regime has renewed its crackdown on women defying the country’s compulsory hijab laws. A key instrument in this campaign is the regime’s Headquarters for Enjoining Good and Forbidding Wrong, which has begun sending threatening text messages to women and their family members, warning them of consequences for non-compliance.

This latest wave of repression is particularly concentrated in major Iranian cities such as Tehran, Shiraz, Rasht, and Isfahan, and follows a period during which some regime officials claimed to have relaxed enforcement of the so-called “Promotion of Chastity and Hijab” policy. Contrary to those statements, recent reports and images shared on social media reveal a significant technological escalation in identifying and punishing women who appear in public without a headscarf.

Iran’s Ambitious but Failed Imperial Project in Syria

The Iranian regime once harbored grand imperial ambitions in Syria, aiming to transform the war-torn country into a lucrative satellite state and economic empire, according to a groundbreaking investigation by Reuters based on secret embassy documents uncovered in Damascus. This article delves into the details of Iran’s strategy, its investments, the challenges it faced, and why ultimately these ambitions collapsed following the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Iran’s plan for Syria was modeled explicitly after the United States’ famed Marshall Plan, which rebuilt Europe after World War II and secured American global dominance by creating economic and political dependence. A 33-page official Iranian policy study, dated May 2022 and authored by an Iranian economic-policy unit based in Syria, described Syria as a “$400 billion opportunity” and envisioned a comprehensive reconstruction program to rebuild infrastructure, deepen economic ties, and expand Iran’s influence over its key regional ally.
