Nationwide Protests from All Walks of Lives on Monday
While the Iranian regime only allows news agencies to cover the upcoming sham elections, official statements about the nuclear dossier, and post-Gaza crisis posturing… another story is unfolding in every province and city of Iran. On Monday, many Iranians took to the streets to make their voices heard. Metro workers, janitors, Iran Air airline workers, National Iranian Oil Company workers, healthcare workers, teachers, medical workers and retired employees in Tehran, as well as scholars and educational staff from different universities in Tabriz and Ahvaz, truck drivers in Mashhad, citizens of Qom, teachers in Rafsanjan, retirees in Karaj and Shiraz, oil and gas engineers in Bushehr, teachers in Zarand, Janitors in Qazvin, teachers in Zabol, local residents of Lordegan and Dehdez, and retired steel industry workers in Isfahan, were reported to have taken part in rallies and demonstrations against the regime and its local authorities. It’s just a matter of when, rather than if that these protests turn into radical uprisings.

Iran: Teachers, Workers Protest Poor Working Conditions, Unpaid Wages in Several Cities
Janitors and utility employees of Iran’s education system held protest rallies in front of the offices of the education ministry in Tehran, Lorestan, and Qazvin provinces on Sunday. The demonstrators are protesting discrimination in salaries and poor working conditions. These protests, which have been ongoing in other provinces as well, started after the regime’s administrative court of justice ruled to reduce the salaries of many workers. According to a May 15 report by the state-run IMNA news agency, janitors and utility workers receive 25-30 million rials per month, which given the current state of inflation and skyrocketing prices, is not much. According to many estimates, the poverty line for a family of four is around 100 million rials per month, which means these workers are receiving 25-30 percent of what they need to provide the most basic needs of their families.
