The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran announced on Sunday, May 2, 2021, that the COVID-19 death toll in 541 cities had exceeded 274,500. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 63,121, Isfahan 18,000, Razavi Khorasan 17,105, Khuzestan 16,764, Mazandaran 11,420, Lorestan 11,408, East Azerbaijan 11,238, Gilan 9,541, Qom 9,260, Fars 8,502, Alborz 7,233, Golestan 6,885, Sistan and Baluchestan 6,286, Hamedan 6,203, Kerman 6,184, Central Province 5,743, Kermanshah 5,504, Yazd 4,772, North Khorasan 4,078, Zanjan 3,025, Ilam 2,826, South Khorasan 2,701, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 2,144.

On Saturday, Iranian workers marked International Labor Day by holding protest rallies across the country. Labor communities, who had coordinated their rallies on social media, held their demonstrations in more than a dozen cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, Mashhad, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, Rasht, Isfahan, Qazvin, Ahvaz, Karaj, Arak, Khorramabad, Marivan, Haft Tappeh, Ilam, Borujerd, and Baneh.

MEK Resistance Units Mark International Workers Day Across Iran

Labor day activities in Iran, May 1, 2021
The network of the Iranian Opposition inside Iran organized a vast campaign marking International Workers’ Day.

On May 1, on the occasion of International Workers Day, the Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized widespread anti-regime activities across the country. In various cities, the Resistance Units spread anti-regime slogans that targeted mullahs’ institutionalized corruption. Workers in Iran are among the most deprived classes of society and struggle to live with a minimum wage. Workers live under the poverty line and can’t even afford their most basic and vital needs.
