On February 5, 2025, political prisoners in 35 prisons across Iran participated in the 54th consecutive week of “No to Execution Tuesdays,” a campaign against the regime’s widespread use of the death penalty.
The movement continues to grow, with Gonbad Kavus Prison newly joining the protest. Meanwhile, the regime has intensified executions, with over 30 prisoners executed in the last 14 days, including a female inmate in Khorramabad Prison.
As repression escalates, the campaign’s expansion signals rising defiance against the Iranian government’s use of executions to silence dissent.
The latest statement of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign follows:
Gonbad Kavus Prison Joins the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in Its 54th Week
Dear Compatriots,
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign continues to gain momentum, with Gonbad Kavus Prison now joining the movement. On February 5, 2025, prisoners in 35 prisons across Iran will engage in a hunger strike for the 54th consecutive Tuesday in protest against the death penalty.
Additionally, a number of political prisoners from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, where some inmates had previously joined the campaign, have now declared their solidarity with this collective act against executions.
This morning, on February 2, 2025,#Behrooz_Ehsani & #Mehdi_Hasani, members of the “#No_to_Execution_Tuesdays” campaign, transferred to Unit 4 of the political prisoners’ ward in Ghezel Hesar.

Since January 21, over 30 prisoners have been executed, including a female prisoner in Khorramabad Prison. In yet another inhumane act, Manouchehr Fallah, a political prisoner, and member of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, who is currently detained in Lakan Prison in Rasht, has been sentenced to death on charges of “waging war against God” (Moharebeh). His sentencing, issued by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht, followed an unfair trial that lacked transparency and legal representation.
It is evident that the regime’s systematic and arbitrary use of death sentences aims to instill fear in society and prevent street protests and uprisings. It should not be forgotten that Ali Khamenei has previously instructed judges to disregard international human rights principles when issuing verdicts.
However, the solidarity and unity of the people against executions have been remarkable in recent weeks. The campaign against the execution of political prisoners has expanded both domestically and internationally, demonstrating broad resistance against a tyrannical regime that cannot sustain itself without executions.
The death sentence of political prisoner Manouchehr Fallah further underscores the regime’s reliance on capital punishment as a means of oppression.
The nationwide “No to Execution” campaign and the prisoners’ hunger strikes on Tuesdays are evolving into a widespread movement, expanding each week. This campaign seeks to support the courageous struggle of the Iranian people, particularly the fearless youth, for the liberation of their homeland and the eradication of corruption and discrimination.
The members of this campaign express their gratitude for the continued support in marking the anniversary of “No to Execution Tuesdays” across social media, news platforms, and various gatherings both inside and outside the country. They hope that these efforts, which defend the right to life and fundamental human rights, will continue to gain momentum.
