Anti-government protests stretch across Iran, and people’s calls for regime change continue to increase despite the mullahs’ heavy crackdown. Whether in metropolises or rural areas and villages, the voice of dissent and people chanting “death to the dictator” are loud and clear.

Much like its predecessors, the current uprising is widespread. Yet, its rapid spread to 156 cities in just 12 days is unprecedented.

Despite the regime’s heavy crackdown and killing of nearly 250 protesters, courageous Iranians continue resisting the oppressive forces and target its centers of repression and plundering.  Protests continued into the night on Tuesday despite the regime dispatching many Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), paramilitary Basij, and plainclothes agents, as well as disrupting internet connections as they have done it daily.

Protests erupted in Iran following Mahsa Amini’s murder by the regime’s so-called morality police. Mahsa’s name has been trending on social media platforms. Her innocent face in the hospital symbolized the Iranian women’s plight under the ruling misogyny.

The ongoing protests are demographically unique, showcasing national solidarity among all Iranians, regardless of their ethnic, religious, and socio-economic differences. They all have one goal: “toppling Iran’s ruling theocracy,” and as they have chanted, they “will not return home” until they “start a revolution.”

These slogans and national unity debunked the regime’s efforts to label protesters as separationists and the “global arrogance’s” fifth column.

The ongoing slogans by protesters, such as “Death to the dictator, whether be it the Shah or Mullah,” indicate the democratic nature of these protests.

People have been chanting slogans such as “We will fight till the end” and “I will kill whoever kills my sister,” reflecting their faith in seeing the regime’s downfall at any cost as the only way to end all crises in Iran. The videos from inside Iran showing brave youth confronting heavily armed forces with bare hands lays bare their determination to topple the regime at any cost.

In a nutshell, Iranians have one clear objective, which is toppling the regime, and they are ready to pay the price. The world community should recognize the Iranian people’s right to self-defense and desire to have a free country.
