Sample ImageNCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, lauded Bazaar merchants for their strike in Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Tabriz, Ardebil, Neishabour, and Torbat-e Heidarieh that has been going on for the past few days. Addressing the striking merchants, she said: Your strike is a laudable reaction to the ruling mullahs’ plunder of country’s wealth and their treacherous policy that has destroyed the national production and domestic trade in favor of the Supreme Leader’s Revolutionary Guards.

Mrs. Rajavi noted that due to anti-popular policy of the regime including rampant import of goods, domination of major part of the trade, production, and export and import, the national production is rapidly deteriorating. Iran’s trade in the most important areas is disintegrating. The private sector is reaching its end and the recession has hit the market, and trade and production units so badly that the number of bouncing checks has reached an unprecedented level.

Under current circumstances, the increase in taxes, based on value added tax scheme, has dealt a new blow to the dying economy. In actual fact, the bankrupt government of Ali Khamenei is trying make Bazaar merchants and small trade units to pay for the economic crisis and its devastating policies. This is while; the massive trade by the Revolutionary Guards is effectively tax exempted. The regime is unable to answer a basic question that what has been done to 340 billion dollar of oil revenue over the past five years.

The President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said that the strike by Iranian Bazaar merchants in a number of major cities three months ago revealed the explosive state of the Iranian society that seeks the overthrow of the clerical regime.

While urging other Iranians to join Bazaar protests, Mrs. Rajavi praised freedom seeking merchants who have not compromised with anti-Iranian, anti-Islamic regime of Khomeini and his heirs and have paid the price for their position by losing their lives and belongings or being forced into exile.
