Why Brave Iran Rebels Have Finally Had Enough of Ayatollah as Evil Regime Stands on The Brink
On the streets of Iran, the drums of rebellion are beating hard – fuelled by a population pushed to the brink. Even in traditionally loyal areas such as Bazaar, everyday Iranians have been facing off with ruthless Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps agents. At least 2,000 have been killed in deadly clashes as Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei faces being toppled. But with bodies piling high in the streets and morgues full, some human rights groups put the grisly toll much higher at over 12,000.
But The Sun was given unprecedented access to speak with brave members of People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK) resistance units risking their lives on the frontline of the protests.
Amir, a member of a resistance unit in the city of Shiraz, told how Iranians feel they have “nothing left to lose”.
The 23-year-old said: “The young generation of Iran joins protests despite the risk of arrest, imprisonment, or even death, because for them, the cost of silence has exceeded the cost of protest.
Horror In Iran as ‘12,000 Protesters Slaughtered’ In Brutal Regime Crackdown
A brutal crackdown on mass protests to depose the Islamic dictatorship in Iran has left more than 12,000 people dead, according to local media. Iran International wrote: “At least 12,000 people were killed in the largest massacre in contemporary Iranian history, mainly on the nights of January 8 and 9, and this massacre will not be buried in silence.”
Separately, an opposition group told Express.co.uk that they had counted at least 3,000 deaths. They announced the horrific figure as the protest, which has encompassed more than 195 cities, entered its 16th day today. Under orders from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the police and Iranian Revolutionary Guard have been using live rounds against their own people. They have been instructed to target the eyes and face of protesters to effect maximum horror and terror from their kills.
Sources within the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (MEK), which is fighting to bring full democracy to Iran after 47 years of Islamic dictatorship, said the new figures were based on investigations drawing on local sources, hospitals, forensic medicine centres, and the families of those killed or disappeared across the 195 cities.
While Iran Is Being Massacred, the People’s Uprising Is Being Hijacked
The Iranian people have reached a historic breaking point. Through widespread protests across the country, people from all walks of life have stated clearly and unequivocally: enough is enough. The clerical regime must go.
The response has been brutal violence. Peaceful demonstrators are met with live fire, arbitrary arrests, and systematic terror. Hundreds have been killed, thousands injured or imprisoned. Internet access has been cut to conceal the crimes. This is happening once again — in the shadow of Western countries’ continued policy of appeasement toward a regime that commits crimes against humanity.
New and shocking figures confirm the gravity of the situation. According to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), the death toll in the nationwide uprising that began on December 28, 2025, has surpassed 3,000 as of January 11, 2026. The figures are based on investigations from local sources, hospitals, forensic institutes, and the families of those killed or missing in 195 cities. The regime has even displayed some of the bodies on state television, while falsely attempting to place the blame on demonstrators and the opposition.

Maryam Rajavi’s Message on the 16th Day of the Iranian People’s Uprising for Freedom
The storm of Iran’s uprising for freedom has been fighting the monster of repression and bloodshed for 16 days. Khamenei, a dictator facing a dead end, has sent his Revolutionary Guards, Basij forces, torturers, and state prosecutors into the streets. Our people have brought their endless love for freedom, their strong will to change their fate, and their great power of sacrifice to the streets. The recent brutal killings and the shocking number of 3,000 martyrs, announced today by the People’s Mojahedin of Iran, are not a sign of the regime’s strength. They show the weakness of Khamenei and the officials of the regime. This brutal crime shocks the conscience of modern humanity.
Day 16 Of Iran Uprising: Death Toll Surpasses 3,000; Regime Officials Threaten ‘No Mercy’ As Global Isolation Grows
The nationwide uprising against the religious dictatorship in Iran has reached its sixteenth day on Monday, January 12, 2026. Following a fifteenth day marked by strikes and protests in different cities, the situation has escalated significantly. On Monday, the true scale of the regime’s brutality came to light with new casualty figures released by the Iranian opposition, while regime officials, sensing the threat to their existence, resorted to open threats of execution and harsh crackdowns. Simultaneously, the regime faces unprecedented diplomatic isolation as the European Parliament closes its doors to the mullahs’ representatives.
Internet Shutdown and Suppression Orders: Death Toll Surpasses 3,000
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced today, January 12, that the death toll during the nationwide uprising between December 28, 2025, and January 11, 2026, had exceeded 3,000 across Iran. This figure is based on cross-checking and verification of information collected from local sources, hospitals, forensic medicine centers, and the families of those killed or forcibly disappeared in at least 195 cities nationwide. The clerical regime was forced to broadcast the bodies of some of the victims on state television, while falsely attributing their killings to opposition forces and protesters. Maryam Rajavi described the mass killing of demonstrators as “a major crime against humanity.”
German Chancellor: The Suppression of Protesters Is a Sign of the Iranian Regime’s Weakness
Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, described the Iranian regime’s repressive actions against protesters as disproportionate and brutal, emphasizing that adopting such an approach reflects the weakness of the ruling authorities. Merz said on Monday, January 12, during his visit to India, that since the start of protests across Iran, more people from all segments of society have been taking to the streets every day, peacefully demonstrating in pursuit of freedom and a better life. He added that this is not only their undeniable right, but that the courage with which these people resist the disproportionate and brutal violence of Iran’s security forces deserves the highest respect and recognition.
Beyond Shah and Mullahs: Iran’s Uprising Rejects All Forms of Tyranny
The Iranian people are not fighting to recycle history—they are rising to bury both the theocracy and the monarchy once and for all. History in Iran is being written not in textbooks, but in the streets—through fire, blood, and extraordinary courage. What we are witnessing today is not a sudden outburst of anger, but the culmination of more than a century of struggle for freedom. Women and men, fully aware of the cost, have stepped into the line of fire to bring meaning to the countless sacrifices made under two dictatorships: the Shah’s monarchy and the clerical tyranny of the so-called Islamic Republic. This uprising did not begin as an abstract political debate. Its initial spark came from merchants, workers, and ordinary citizens crushed under the weight of an economy ruined by systemic corruption.
