Iran: Brutal Raid by Clerical Regime’s Henchmen on Evin Prison’s Ward 7 and Assault on Political Prisoners
- Transfer of Six Political Prisoners to Unknown Location
Today, Saturday, August 1, at approximately 11:30 AM, Evin Prison guards brutally raided the political prisoners’ hall in Ward 7 and severely beat the inmates. The attackers forcibly transferred Amir Hossein Moradi, Ehsan Rostami, Ramin Rostami, Pejman Toobareh-Rizi, and Mojtaba Taghavi—all supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)—along with children’s rights activist Afshin Heyratian, to an unknown location, despite their injuries and torn clothes.
Amir Hossein Moradi, 26, an elite student at Sharif University of Technology, was arrested in April 2020 and sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. He has been held in prison ever since without a single day of furlough.
Ehsan Rostami and his cousin Ramin Rostami, along with several of their relatives and friends, were arrested in Tehran on August 20, 2025. Ehsan is a sociologist and the director of Samandar Publishing and Bookstore.
Mojtaba Taghavi, 58, is the brother of the martyred PMOI member Mohammad Taghavi, who was executed on March 30, 2026. Mojtaba was arrested in March 2024 solely because of his connection with his PMOI brother and sentenced to six years and seven months in prison.
Pejman Toobareh-Rizi, 31, was arrested in Tehran on January 28, 2025, and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Several regime henchmen and prison officials took part in this criminal raid, including Fathollahi (chief of prison guards), Rostami (deputy chief of guards), Sadeghi (deputy head of security), Yousefi (deputy for health affairs), Haghjou (head of inspection), and Mahmoudi (head of Ward 7).
Expressing grave concern over the fate and health of these six prisoners, the Iranian Resistance urges the United Nations Human Rights Council, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran, and other international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to clarify their whereabouts and situation.
